Job Summary: The Director of Sales is responsible for overseeing the daily sales efforts and overall positioning of the resort, brand communication and the development of customers for the property including: Rooms, Meetings, and Events. This integral role is also responsible for rental revenue, yield strategies, implementation, market performance and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. In addition, the DOS will be responsible for the development and implementation of the total sales effort of the Resort, including securing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and executing sales and marketing strategies to maximize the profitability of the resort while maintaining customer satisfaction. Strategies will include pricing, status, direct sales, market mix, marketing, and public relations. Candidates must have a dynamic leadership style, possessing excellent communication and decision-making skills and an astute business acumen. The Director of Sales is also a key member of resort’s Executive Team, and this position also demands a leadership role in the local and regional business and tourism community to ensure the continued success of Oakwood Resort.
Hours of Work: Full time position with days and hours of work subject to business volumes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Implement and supervise the execution of sales and marketing plan, social media plan, advertising, yield strategies, market performance and annual budget.
· Creates effective Sales Programs that will increase awareness and positive perception of the resort, its activities, culinary services, and personnel.
· Collect market and competitive intelligence to assess and implement strategy and long-term goals and strategic vision
· Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
· Develop rates, group sales deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management.
· Ability to effectively listen, communicate and perform diplomacy with internal and external customers and staff in all situations.
· Suggests innovative Sales and Marketing ideas and develops deployment strategies to continue to grow market share.
· Develop and administer Marketing campaigns in line with Oakwood Resort’s brand messaging through Social, Digital and Print media
· Identifies public relations opportunities and coordinates activities to augment the overall marketing communication strategy.
· Representing and promoting the brand locally and internationally in various trade shows & business events
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· May participate in Manager on Duty Program
Job Requirements:
· Minimum of four years hotel/resort sales management experience required.
· Excellent understanding of all market segments including Leisure, Business, Transient, Group and OTA’s
· Excellent communications skills- interpersonal, written and public/media relations
· Computer literacy (Opera, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Ability to understand and interpret financial data
· Must be results oriented with ability to be very flexible
· Positive attitude and supportive, team-based approach towards the attainment of the resort's goals
· A successful candidate will be comfortable in a high-energy, service oriented luxury-lifestyle resort environment and be able to manage multiple functions and priorities.
· Ability to travel and work flexible hours and days
