About Qualicum School District Qualicum School District is centrally situated on east Vancouver Island and covers the area of Nanoose Bay to Bowser and spans from Errington across the Strait of Georgia to Lasqueti Island. We serve a student population of approximately 4700 students. Qualicum School District consists of eight elementary schools (Grades K-7), two secondary schools (Grade 8-12), an alternate school (PASS/Woodwinds) and a Distributed Learning program to support home-learning families called the Collaborative Education Alternative Program (CEAP). False Bay School on Lasqueti Island is entirely off-grid with an immense solar project recently completed. Expressions of Interest We are seeking Expressions of Interest for an upcoming vacancy. Details about this opportunity are noted below. Assignment: School Psychologist Qualicum School District seeking Expressions of Interest from qualified School Psychologists . The assignment may change due to the itinerant nature of the position, or to meet the needs of the school’s educational program, grade organization, and/or enrolment. 1.00 FTE - CONTINUING Commencing September 1, 2024.The successful candidate will be expected to: Use valid psycho-educational, formal and informal, assessment methods for assessing referred students; Demonstrate knowledge of current, effective assessment measures; Facilitate the use of a variety of assessment data for student program planning; Collaborate with school staff regarding developmentally appropriate strategies, assessments, and interventions for students; Interpret data for the appropriate identification, placement, or referral for medical professional assessment/interventions; Serve as a resource for families and school teams to assist in meeting the needs of students; Work with community agencies in providing assessment data and recommendations for student identification and transition planning.
