School District 10, in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC and situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Sinixt Peoples, seeks a School Psychologist starting for the 2024-2025 School year. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and innovative leader with superior information management, organization, written and oral communication skills to provide psycho-educational assessments and related student support programming in all six district schools on a fee-for-service basis. We have a great team of teachers, support staff, parents, students, and community to work alongside. Under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, the School Psychologist (SP) shall assist schools with the provision of psycho-educational assessment services and related programming to students. The SP supports students identified by school-based learning support teams as requiring psycho-educational assessment services.
The SP would be responsible for providing the following services:
Psycho-educational assessment services for school-aged children including relevant programming and follow-up and support to the school personnel involved in carrying out instructional recommendations
Written reports to the school and parents outlining assessment findings, recommendations, and the psycho-educational services, program or exercises to be provided
Expertise at school-based team or Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings as requested for those students who need this level of support. Not all students would require this level of support.
Professional learning workshops on a fee-for-service basis as requested when in the district.
Consultation, planning, and problem solving if required.
Qualifications and Attributes:
Masters degree in School/Education Psychology
Membership or eligibility for membership with the BC Association of School Psychologists
Experience and or desire to work with children of all ages with a variety of disabilities, their families, and other professionals
Must have your own transportation with a valid driver’s license
Outstanding relationship, collaboration, and team-building skills
A vision for healthy community and making a difference together
Highly effective communication, organizational, and report-writing skills
Position Details:
• Fee structure is broken down on the basis of a per site visit and/or assessment service amount (range $450-$2200)
• Additional remuneration is payable for mileage, accommodations, and meal-per diems
