Job Summary:
Are you passionate about finance and accounting? Join our team in the Financial and Regulatory Reporting department, where you'll become an expert in accounting policies, regulatory requirements, corporate tax, capital management, and complex transactions.
As part of our team, you'll provide valuable insights and professional opinions on accounting matters, helping senior management make informed decisions. You'll also produce and distribute Central 1's quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A and handle financial statements for Central 1's subsidiaries and affiliates, contributing to our organization's success and growth.
What you'll be doing:
Financial Accounting and Reporting
  • Prepare the monthly financial statements for Central 1 and/or its subsidiaries
  • Support monthly financial reporting including posting journal entries, reconciliation and preparation of supporting schedules for financial statement account balances.
  • Assist in the preparation of Central 1's quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A according to the prescribed timeline.
  • Preparing the quarter end and year end deliverables for external auditors, ensuring the complete and accurate supporting documents for the disclosures in Central 1's consolidated financial statements and MD&A.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Central 1's financial products and their accounting impact
Regulatory Reporting and Capital Management
  • Obtain, assemble, calculate and analyze information from various systems to complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory reporting
  • Complete the monthly/quarterly and annual regulatory reports for the subsidiaries of Central 1
Teamwork and Collaboration skills
  • Self-motivated to challenge the 'status quo' and propose new approaches and processes to peers and leaders
  • Open, supportive and respectful to all team members and actively engaged as a team member to ensure the quality of work performed
  • Collaboration skills with a proven track record of effective conflict resolution and team-building skills, including being a role model for others and sharing knowledge and experience with other team members
What you'll have:
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA) and a university degree, together with 4+ years of progressive experience in financial accounting and reporting
  • Experience in IFRS 9 Financial Instruments accounting and/or in the financial service industry is preferred
  • Working knowledge of core financial systems, Workday experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and time-management skills
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to be independent, self-motivated, efficient and able to tackle competing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across Finance
  • Display an agile mindset to accommodate a dynamic environment
  • Work collaboratively with fellow teammates preparing audit confirmations at the year end
  • Prepare and process regulatory charges during the year
  • Prepare and process Central 1's share register reconciliation and semi-annual share rebalancing
  • Provide coverage to other team members who are on vacation or leave.
  • Implementing process improvements as necessary, with the mentality of always looking to do tasks in a more efficiency way.
Salary: $84,600
The salary represents the job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
