THE ROLE
STRIVE Recruitment have partnered with a Vancouver based retail brand as they look to hire a Senior Accountant to the team. They are ideally looking for someone who has just stepped up to Senior Accountant or an Accountant looking for the next step in their career.
The client is growing from strength to strength which has included expanding their product base and adding additional retail units. The client is proud of its collaborative environment and with it being somewhat of a startup the Senior Accountant needs to be someone who is agile and a real team player who supports colleagues and has a real thirst to learn, a self-starter who shows initiative and takes on ad-hoc tasks and projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise general ledger accounting operations, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and executing month-end/year-end closing procedures.
- Compile monthly financial reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure the accuracy of recorded transactions through variance analysis and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Assist with annual audit and tax compliance requirements.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards in recording and reporting transactions.
- Assist with the annual budgeting process and monitor monthly performance.
- Optimize accounting processes and protocols to enhance efficiency and data precision. Provide guidance and foster collaboration among finance team members.
- The client is looking for a team player who is willing to take on additional ad-hoc tasks and projects.
- Either completed or nearing completion of the CPA program.
- Ability to think critically, identify issues, interpret, and apply accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with an emphasis on teamwork
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Experience with NetSuite, or a similar ERP software.
- Previous experience in the consumer goods industry or distribution/ wholesale
