Position: Senior Accountant, Arena

Reports to: Director, Finance
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant, Arena will see all aspects of accounting and finance as it relates to Rogers Arena and concerts and will have the opportunity to make this role their own. The incumbent is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, monitoring of the annual budget, and assisting with forecasting, as well as providing recommendations and guidance on implementing policies and best practices.
This role will focus on:
Full Cycle Accounting for Rogers Arena
- Completing all bank reconciliations and postings
- Recording all revenues, expenses, and accruals in monthly journal entries
- Preparing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and working papers
- Managing monthly intercompany reconciliations for our 10+ entities, identifying posting discrepancies between them, and working with each entity's accountant to resolve all issues
- Preparing monthly tax filings for GST, PST, and TransLink Parking Tax
- Approving employee expense claims in SAP Concur, ensuring proper back-up, manager approvals, and GL coding are provided
- Reconciling Credit Facility monthly draws and interest calculations
Reporting and Budgeting
- Preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements
- Monitoring and analyzing YTD department revenue and expenses, comparing actuals to budget, and reporting out on material differences
- Preparing and distributing monthly departmental spend reports to department managers
- Preparing and distributing weekly cash reporting for all entities
- Assisting in the preparation of the next fiscal year operating budget
- Maintaining labour tracking reports, tracking expenses, number of workers, and total hours to assist in the budgeting process
- Preparing YTD actual vs. budget reports
- Working closely with the Director, Finance to report out on capital project spend and budget
- Recognizing depreciation in our accounting system, and reconciling all capital asset balances, additions, and depreciation amounts to our capital asset schedule
- Assisting with Treasury analysis for intercompany cash distributions
Event Accounting and Concert Settlements
- Allocating internal arena labour costs to the appropriate business entity for all smaller-scale events
- Invoicing all arena labour and event rental costs to customers who book events in the arena
- Acting as the back-up to the Arena Controller for concert settlements and acting as the finance point of contact for all assigned shows
- Working concert nights for assigned shows
- Working with internal event managers, and event promoters to ensure all revenues and costs are correctly captured in the show settlement, which is settled the night-of
- Recording Ticketmaster deposits and recognizing revenues as events occur, maintaining working papers by event, and reconciling revenues between Ticketmaster and our bank
- Compiling all ticket revenues, F&B, merchandise, 50/50 results, attendance, and event labour costs for all Canucks games for distribution to senior management
- Ensuring all event costs are recorded in our accounting system for all Canucks and Warriors games, accruing for any contracted expenses and internal labour, and working with A/P to follow-up on invoices that are not received

YOU HAVE:
- At least five years general accounting experience, with experience in preparing financial statements and account analysis
- CPA designation or close to completion
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and D365 or other accounting systems
- Strong work ethic, loyalty, and dedication is expected
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
- Speed and accuracy in data entry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively communicate financial results to various members of the Leadership Team
- Ability to work in a high pressure environment under strict time deadlines
- A team player with a strong customer service focus
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required by the event schedule

- Onsite role at our office in downtown Vancouver
