The Senior AML Analyst will be responsible with the executing of the day-to-day operations related AML/ATF activities including name-screening, transaction monitoring, investigating escalated unusual activities, internal AML report review and providing support to AML Operations. This role involves filing regulatory reports and ensuring strict adherence to AML/ATF policies, AML Operations procedures.
What you will be doing:
- Investigate alerts generated by the Name Screening and Transaction Monitoring system.
- Assess outcomes of name-screening, transaction monitoring and unusual transaction escalations and determining necessary actions.
- Ensure thorough investigation and resolution and making decisions and recommendations on necessary actions required.
- Maintain detailed records of investigations, actions taken, and decisions made during the AML process.
- Obtain approvals and ensure prompt submission of recommendations for internal AML Reports or Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to FINTRAC within the specified timelines outlined in Rogers Bank procedures.
- Perform Quality Assurance assessments on work completed by outsourced partners to maintain quality standards (if necessary).
- Conduct reviews on Enhanced Due Diligence for high-risk customers.
- Conduct reviews of internal AML reports, analyzing findings, and determining appropriate actions in accordance with established procedures.
- Manage the Bank's Enhanced Due Diligence process and timelines for different risk levels following policy guidelines.
- Assist in AML compliance-related tasks, including audits, reviews, and assessments.
- Stay current with money laundering and terrorist financing issues, encompassing policies, legislation, best practices, criminal typologies, and emerging trends.
- Identify opportunities to improve AML processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Actively contribute to team discussions and initiatives aimed at optimizing AML operations.
- Support the Manager, AML Operations in implementing the Bank's AML/ATF program to ensure compliance with Legislative and Regulatory requirements including PCMLTFA, associated Regulations, and FINTRAC guidance.
What you will bring:
- 3 or more years of AML/ATF operational experience at a Canadian Financial Institution.
- CAMS certified or currently enrolled in the CAMS certification program preferred.
- Post-secondary education in a related field.
- Strong understanding of Canadian compliance (AML/ATF) regulations, including PCMLTFR and FINTRAC.
- An understanding of Financial Services is required, experience with credit cards and other financial products would be an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet navigation.
- Experience with name-screening and transaction monitoring systems.
- Proficient in using SQL is an asset.
- Exceptional analytical skills with keen attention to detail and proficient writing abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster and develop relationships both internally and externally with regulatory stakeholders.
- A good team player who is also able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in an agile environment requiring prioritization of duties.
- Flexibility to work additional or flexible hours to meet deadlines or address urgent operational needs.
