What is the opportunity?

The Senior Analyst, Credit Strategy and Portfolio Performance, is part of a growing and dynamic team in Enterprise Risk & Portfolio Management (ERPM) that supports Personal Segment of Bank of Montreal (the bank). The team protects the bank through sound risk management practices; acts as a strategic advisor to steer the bank towards value; focuses on innovative solutions to drive performance.

What will you do?

  • Optimizes credit adjudication strategies' performance through the effective use of analytics and improves the automation of real-time decisioning for Consumer Credit Card portfolio.

    • Leads the monitoring, measurement & reporting on the performance of the credit decision strategy to internal & external stakeholders.

    • Streamlines the monitoring reports and data visualizations by designing dynamic and user-friendly processes.

    • Conducts deep-dive analysis/assessment and propose recommendations to optimize portfolio risk-rewards performance.

    • Manages the planning and execution of the change management process including simulation, validation testing and reporting requirements to ensure the effectiveness of the new or modified strategies.

    • Contributes to the end-to-end process of development and implementation of strategic initiatives in the automated credit decision engine through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Steers business growth towards risk-adjusted results with strong risk mitigation and data-driven decision making; works collaboratively with various stakeholders across line of business.

    • Owns the credit decisioning and processes of pre-approved card offering for quarterly marketing campaigns and liaises with business stakeholders to ensure timely and successful delivery.

    • Responsible for reviewing business initiatives (e.g. marketing campaigns, new product/channel launch) and providing effective challenge to achieve optimal risk-return within the Bank's risk appetite.

    • Acts as a trusted advisor to business partners on implementation of analytical solutions.

  • Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of business product strategies and related risk management requirements and legislative/ regulatory directives.

    • Researches existing or emerging risk management techniques & related best practices to assist and develops recommendations for changes/enhancements.

    • Maintains a general understanding of the external environment including regulatory requirements and competitive offerings.

    • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of working experience in credit risk management, modelling or business analytics in the consumer lending industry.

  • University degree in an analytical discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research or similar fields.

  • Proven track record of growing business value with advanced analytics.

  • Ability to clearly articulate quantitative analyses to both sophisticated technical experts and diverse business partners.

  • Attention to detail and sensitivity to numbers.

  • A self-starter and team player.

  • Technical proficiency using data analytics tools: SAS, SQL, SAS EM, FICO Analytics Modeler or equivalent.

  • Experience using data visualization tools: Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire or equivalent.

  • In-depth knowledge of credit adjudication/credit life cycle/credit bureau/credit risk management & reporting is an asset.

  • In-depth product knowledge of Credit Card is an asset.

  • Knowledge in finance is an asset.

  • Market/Macroeconomy awareness.

Compensation and Benefits:

$54,500.00 - $101,500.00

Pay Type:

Salaried

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
