Purpose of Role
 
Reporting to the Manager, Global Security Governance, this position is responsible for all duties associated with travel security, open-source intelligence (OSINT), business intelligence, country risk requirements, and security management systems. The role will advise on international security and geopolitical developments, which have potential to impact the business, using specialized knowledge gained from Masters level education and professional work. The position also provides necessary levels of support regarding the Global Security Standardization program to include metrics gathering and program development with specialized physical and gold security, and business, knowledge.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
-Analyze and monitor global events and activities using specialist knowledge to determine, with good judgement, impacts on Kinross operations with a strong analytical acumen.
-Develop and disseminate security risk reports for locations where Kinross operates.
-Develop and disseminate political/economic/security risk reports on possible future countries of operation and exploration. 
-Daily monitoring of high-risk countries for security risk and, if necessary, circulate a special advisories.
-Support the development and implementation of an open-source intelligence program, including daily monitoring.
-Conduct Threat Risk Assessments as required.
-Assist with the Kinross travel security program.
-Apply innovative research techniques and develop sources of information.
-Handle search queries from other stakeholders in the business.
-Use of Kinross specific social media searching technology.
-Use of Kinross specific incident and investigations database platform.
-Assist in the development of new tools for security analysis and reporting.
-Provide due diligence of companies and individuals using specific software and traditional methods to flag potential high impact risk, such as sanctions or criminal concerns.
-Support Kinross’ unique Global Security Standardization Program through the collection of data and metrics from regional and site security management.
-Serve on the GSSP audit team; conduct security audits of Kinross locations to support program compliance.
-Develop educational material for employees in the area of security risk.
-Develop new tools to support site and Global Security management achieve their goals
-Assist with investigations as needed.
-Support other Global Security functions such as access control, development of security policies, and procedures.     
 
Sustainability Expectations
Follows and implements programs contained in the Global Security Standardization Program to include the performance-based strategy; this involves developing/optimizing the site security system, also conducting briefings to site personnel keeping them updated about security related matters.
Actively promote human rights and security best practices to all stakeholders internally and externally as the Kinross Human Rights Adherence and Verification Program. Elements and metrics of this human rights and security program will be diligently detailed and reported to GS as part of the Kinross annual ESG reporting requirements. 
 
Minimum Qualifications and Skill Requirements
-Master’s University degree, post-degree experience of 2 years in a related field. 
-3-5 years of related work experience in an administrative role, with experience providing risk reports and country intelligence briefings.
-Knowledge of OSINT approaches and methodologies essential.
-Good communication skills (oral and written). Strong writing skills are an asset.
-Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet. High competence in Excel preferred.
-Extensive research experience and ability to analyze potential impact on operations.
-Strong geopolitical analysis abilities with proven track record of advising a business on international issues.
-Exercise good initiative and ability to make linkages between global events and business interests.
-Ability to work under minimum supervision.
-High level of integrity.
-Exercise good initiative ability to make linkages using an investigative approach. 
-Ability to prioritize effectively and manage several responsibilities simultaneously. 
-Able to review, analyze, and extract data from various sources.
-Excellent organizational skills.

-Comfortable and able for global travel as required.
Skills
-Previous experience in the mining industry is an asset.
-Previous experience in a corporate security or global risk function is considered an asset.
-Discretion in dealing with sensitive matters and confidential information.

-Experience with social media monitoring tools seen as an asset.
-Second language (Arabic, French, Spanish, Portuguese) would be an asset.
