Contributes to the overall success of the Retail Products and Regulatory Support team by taking lead on key testing initiatives. The Senior Analyst is responsible to execute on testing plans and work hand in hand with the business to review findings and to help draft out achievable action plans to close gaps. To facilitate testing they will meet with key stakeholders including management, LOB, Business Unit Controls and other areas as necessary. The Senior Analyst is also responsible to provide support on Issue Management validations. In addition, they will be responsible for partnering with the Issue Management team to provide support on issues and to work closely with the action plan owners from action plan creation to closure.
The Business Controls Team is a key component of Scotiabank's Enterprise Risk Management Framework. Business Controls is responsible for fostering a robust control environment through partnership with the business units.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Complete testing of all assigned Regulatory controls executed within the Retail Product team to include preparing and gathering information prior to meeting with the business unit; scheduling a meeting with the business unit for a walkthrough of the control as required; analyzing efficiency of the control by gathering a sample of data to evaluate accuracy; completing documentation to finalize testing of the control; presenting all aspects of the identified issue to the business unit and to management; retaining all evidence and documentation in a central repository
- Assist with reporting of testing standings and completion of quality assurance checks on completed testing and report findings to management.
- Complete complex testing by producing detailed test scripts for any specific assigned project which could include regulatory control testing and pre-audit work
- Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
- Perform remediation validation, when needed, of Action Plans from Issue Management to validate that remediation plans have been carried out as per defined plan
- Keep up to date with all procedural and policy changes within the business unit to ensure testing methodology is accurate and current; complete all required Bank related training
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of the respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
