Avion Rewards is seeking a Senior Director of Avion Merchant Solutions within our Avion Merchant Solution team. The Merchant Solutions team is responsible for delivering a suite of compelling loyalty products to engage merchants within the Avion ecosystem. You will lead all merchant product initiatives, help define the strategic roadmap and act as the subject matter expert for internal Avion stakeholders and external partners. With an owner-operator mind set, you will prioritize delivering the best possible product and value to Avion merchants and proactively identify & execute on new opportunities.
Reporting to the Vice President of Merchant Solutions, this role will include people management responsibilities as well as individual contributor work—perfect for someone who wants to remain close to their products and is also keen to build and grow their own team. Success in the role will involve creating a team culture of high-performance with a client first mentality and collaborating closely with business partners to deliver positive outcomes.

What will you do?

  • Define the vision for Merchant Product Solutions by understanding merchant and customer needs. Collaborate closely with the Partnership and Consumer Loyalty & Rewards teams to create feedback loops for continued merchant product improvements.

  • Own the Merchant Solutions product roadmap, driving current product improvements and delivering transformational new solutions that will characterize the future of Canadian loyalty.  

  • Define how Merchant Solutions will measure the success, effectiveness, and quality of products. Leverage qualitative insights and quantitative data to inform decisions.

  • Guide and support a team of product managers to help evaluate, design, implement, and maintain Merchant Solutions products and help them grow and develop in their roles.

  • Provide valuable input into business analysis and decisions, acting as the subject matter expert for the Merchant Solutions suite of products.

  • Monitor loyalty industry trends and competitive landscape to inform product strategy and ensure Merchant solutions are competitive with external offerings and are evolving with changes in the industry.

  • Collaborate closely with RBC delivery and data teams to translate product scope and successfully launch partner programs

  • Gain trust and commitment from internal stakeholders and achieve roadmap alignment. Be able to clearly articulate the value of Merchant Solutions and help leadership translate this value across the organization.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 10+ years of experience in product / strategy, preferably within a large organization

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills & ability to present work to executive leadership and external partners

  • Outstanding organizational and analytical abilities, and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and partner management skills

  • Solid understanding of loyalty rewards ecosystem

Nice to have:

  • MBA or Graduate Degree

  • Financial Services experience
