What you'll do
It's safe to say, there's no shortage of variety in what we do. Here are some key accountabilities of the role:
- This position supports the Finance Leadership and Merchandise Planning & Analysis teams by performing research, conducting, and providing results of complex financial analysis relating to all aspects of Gross Margin and Inventory for TJX Canada (Winners, HomeSense and Marshalls).
- Creates & maintains annual and long-range plans for Inventory and Gross Margin.
- Creates monthly Gross Margin and Inventory forecasts, including in-depth analysis to interpret, identify risks and opportunities.
- Partners with MP&A to understand and quantify risks associated with the company's Open-To-Buy position.
- Performs regular and ad hoc data analysis to create and produce reports to support business needs.
- Partners with various project leads to provide financial analysis, scenario planning, evaluate business initiatives, and quantify impacts.
- Partners with Managers and/or AVPs when analyzing business needs and communicating results.
- Develops complex business models and analysis to facilitate and enhance Senior Executive decision making.
What you'll need
To begin your career with us, we require the following:
- A post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Commerce/Economics, Business Administration).
- Minimum four (4) years of professional experience conducting financial analysis within a high-volume data environment; analysis in Inventory/Gross Margin and/or for a retail organization is considered an asset.
- A related professional designation (e.g. CPA/CA, CFA, MBA); in-progress designations will be considered.
- Ability to independently apply GAAP and understanding of retail environments to complex projects and interconnected business initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel, in particular the modelling and analysis features; experience with automation or integration with other software is an asset.
- Knowledge of database design/manipulation concepts and proven analytical skills; experience with Business Intelligence (BI) software (e.g. Power Bi, Tableau) is considered an asset.
- Ability to work in a detail-oriented, multi-project environment while meeting tight and fixed deadlines; capable of working independently, estimating the time required to complete projects, and keep appropriate team members informed of progress.
