What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
- provide strategic business, financial and program planning services including strategic advice, analysis and functional support to senior management at the branch, division and organizational level
- lead and provide operational support for the development and preparation of Ministry Multi-Year plans for Treasury Board/ Management Board of Cabinet submissions including in-year submissions, to secure resources for organizational initiatives and transformation activities
-coordinate strategic business and program planning, financial analysis, to meet strategic objectives within fiscal requirements.

How do I qualify?

Technical knowledge:

- You have knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial planning, modern controllership concepts and practices, and Public Sector accounting.
- You are proficient in financial and controllership administration to lead and coordinate various strategic and business Planning and other controllership activities.
- You have demonstrated knowledge in the areas of strategic/business planning, operational planning, budgeting, financial analysis, quantitative/qualitative performance analysis, forecasting methods/techniques, and risk management.
- You can obtain knowledge of Ministry programs and initiatives as well as corporate and ministry strategic directions to assess the impact of proposed plans and initiatives.

Communication and relationship management skills:

- You have strong oral and written communication and presentation skills to provide advice, options and reports and provide convincing explanations on risk and prevention issues and strategies.
- You have effective consultation and stakeholder management skills to consult and provide advice and lead consultations with stakeholders.
- You have advisory and facilitation skills to work with internal and external groups to analyze, evaluate, develop, and implement programs and procedures.
- You have organizational and coordination skills to lead and coordinate various ministry strategic/business planning activities and other ministry initiatives and projects.

Other technical skills:

- You have demonstrated experience using various computer applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software) to evaluate and review reports, collect/extract, analyze and present reports, presentations and recommendations to senior management, internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- You have experience with technology/applications and client server technology, such as computerized enterprise financial management and reporting systems.

Research, analytical and problem solving kills:

- You have knowledge of/ability to gain knowledge of the relevant legislation to provide analytical reviews and development and implement strategies, business plans and reporting requirements.
- You can conduct risk assessment of issues/problems, and develop options and recommendations for senior management.
- You have project development and analysis skills to support the development, review and implementation of ministry fiscal and corporate operations and reporting requirements.
- You can identify and determine issues and determine trends that may impact client operations/performance.
