Reports to Manager Finance

Purpose of the role: The Senior Financial Analyst, Strategy and Capital Planning provides business partnership support to specific business lines within LifeLabs Core business, as delegated by the Manager Finance. This may include any new lines of business, that are considered beyond the Core such as lines within the "New Customer Relationships and Beyond the Labs" strategies and / or the National Support functions, such as Information Technology, Finance, Public Relations, BD, Marketing and Human Resources. Activities will be delegated across new B2B opportunities, new Health Franchises, Digital Strategies (including Excelleris), Wellness Partnerships and new Consumer Strategies.

This position will be responsible for the Capital Planning, budgeting and forecasting processes as per the delegated business line. Using analytics and financial modelling to advise, this position provides the business with the data to identify opportunities to maximize both the top-line growth, bottom-line margins and cost optimization initiatives for delegated business segments across Strategic Initiatives, Excelleris and / or National Support functions. If the delegated business line is completing any RFPs for customer or vendor contracts, the Analyst will help to support the recommendations to drive improved business performance through optimal pricing. This position is responsible for completing monthly business unit performance reviews to monitor performance, the annual budget and forecast process updates, the 5-year plan and any financial modelling / business cases required to support current and future impacts of opportunities for these new strategic initiatives and support functions for the delegated business segments.

This is a Full Time Hybrid role based in Ontario.

Core Accountabilities

• Monthly Business Unit Performance Reviews: Working in conjunction with either the Strategy and Innovation, Excelleris and / or National Support segments as have been delegated by the Manager Finance establish a working partnership and framework to analyze and communicate results of these strategies and business units on a monthly basis. This framework will include traditional variance analysis and performance monitoring, visual dashboards to measure in-process metrics as well as progress / tracking on the achievement of any segment specific initiatives
• Annual Budget, Forecast Updates, Capital Planning and 5-year Plan Development: Lead the processes specific to the delegated segment across either the Strategy and Innovation, Excelleris and / or National Support segments of the business to develop the annual budget, corresponding "year to go" forecast updates (at least 3X per year) and the annual 5-year financial plan for Life Labs. Ensure alignment of plans across all stakeholder groups.
• Analytics and Business Partnerhips: Develop analytical frameworks and tools to assist delegated segment of either the Strategy and Innovation, Excelleris and / or National Support segments segments of the business in making data-driven decisions, including pricing activities, new business ventures, new product lines, margin analysis, capital investments, RFP activities for both vendors and customers, contract negotiations, licensing and acquisition opportunities, and more broadly any other innovations, strategic initiatives and ad hoc analysis as required to enable business decisions. Leverage tools to enable business case development and documentation, inclusive of both capital requirements and investment returns / payback.
• Ability to perform ad hoc projects in support of the Head of Commercial Finance or the Manager Finance.

Qualification and Skills

• University Degree
• Must have Accounting Designation, CPA and /or MBA (or working towards one of these designations)
• 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Strong analytical and business planning skills in order to solve problems and research and escalate issues, when necessary
• Good understanding of finance processes and data requirements
• Developing management presentation capabiltiies
• Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, Oracle Cloud, SAP, EPM application suites preferred)
• Experience working with reporting and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
• Strong computer and reporting skills with an advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Word
• Good communication skills, verbal and written, with ability to work with a variety of people in a team environment
• Solid organizational and time management skills in order to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines

Hiring Range: $78,300 to $99,800

The hiring range has been established, however, the final salary recommendation will be determined based off the level of experience, education requirement, external market conditions and internal equity.

In this position, you will be eligible for Lifelabs annual bonus.
