Job Description
AECOM Buildings + Places is seeking a Senior Project Manager with experience in the construction and renovation of Science and Technology / Pharmaceutical Laboratories and other facilities to join our team. This position could be based out of any of our Canadian offices.
AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Science project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.
Job Description:
Working closely with our regional Science & Research Sub-sector Business Line Leader and within the context of a multi-disciplinary team, this individual will support the development and growth of our Science and Technologyand pharmaceutical sector through managing a portfolio of Science and laboratory projects (both new construction, and renovations) from the initial planning through to construction phases. This person will also assist with business development activities.
We are looking for a dynamic, self-driven, organized team player, willing to bring their experience to the table to support excellence in science project execution, management, and control. This person could have an engineering or architectural background.
As Project Manager, you will:
Manage a portfolio of clients with multiple Science and laboratory projects from initial planning through construction.
Be responsible for delivering revenues assigned from specific clients.
Consistently delivers profit margins planned.
Consistently completes project without write-downs or multiplier erosion.
Typically manages projects involving RTF (Risk Triggering Factors).
Manages more complex clients and projects.
Effectively runs technically difficult and complex projects with many stakeholders and with large teams.
Deals with difficult situations in high-pressure environments.
Directs staff to operate and minimize exposure to claims.
Ensure that document production by the team is done in accordance with identified science project specific checklists, AECOM standards and QA/QC standard program.
Promote firm and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability.
Day to day project supervision.
While working on projects, the individual will apply his Project Manager technical knowledge to develop and ensure proper execution of:
Repeatable methods and processes that will provide consistent RFP answers for Science and laboratory projects, including budget structure, team workplan, schedule of work.
Development and documentation of methods that applied to science projects: Technical program development, checklists for space assessment, workshop session organization with clients, scientists, researchers, and related end-users to develop laboratory planning strategies at all levels of detail including new construction and renovations.
Education and awareness of AECOM service offerings.
Excellence in managing and delivering a market driven business strategy.
Participate to development of different strategies of growth and in Proposal selection and selection.
Understands operations, strategy, and management
Recognize talent and building effective teams.
External and internal client development and communication across a diversity of client type.
Understand project impact on cost, construction, sustainability, and other factors.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a minimum:
- University Degree in related field of study + eight (8) years of experience in project management on buildings projects.
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
Preferred Requirements:
Prefer 10 years in project management on buildings projects, including science & technology/pharmaceutical labs.
PMP certification or equivalent project management proficiency.
LEED AP Neighbourhood accreditation
Ability to deal with difficult situations in high-pressure environments in a professional manner.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $106,500.00 - $180,000.00.
