A Day in the Life…

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, the Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant is responsible for leading full cycle recruitment processes with a focus on sourcing and securing diverse talent for senior roles and specialized hires. This position will conduct research and provide best practice recommendations on the development of broader talent sourcing initiatives including working with community partners and leveraging online tools to build diverse talent networks and pipelines, while representing Brock as a preferred place to work. The Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant will also be responsible for the supervision of the Temporary Employment Services (TES) Clerical pool.

As theSenior Acquisition Talent Consultant, you will:

  • Act as the main point of contact for the Postdoctoral Fellow hiring process, providing guidance and support to hiring managers;
  • Conduct intake meetings to ensure full understanding of client expectations and strategic objectives;
  • Work in close partnership and in a consultative capacity with hiring managers and hiring committees;  
  • Guide the development of inclusive job postings, recommend sourcing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates;
  • Work within legislative requirements, standards and regulations, collective agreements, University practices and protocols;
  • Manage the posting, screening, interviewing, and selection processes for the (TES) casual clerical staffing group;
  • Complete probationary and regular performance reviews for TES employees;
  • Investigate and manage any performance concerns, with support from Labour and Employment Relations staff, and in compliance with the collective agreement;
  • Provide guidance for staff in understanding and complying with University policies, procedures and guidelines and ensure all University mandatory employee training is completed;  
  • Provide coaching and feedback on developmental and/or career opportunities for direct reports;
  • Collaborate on the creation and implementation of on-boarding initiatives, including new employee orientation and material provided to new employees, leading assigned projects from initiation through delivery;
  • Provide guidance to prospective employees and hiring managers on the work permit and permanent resident application processes.

What you need to Succeed…

  • Undergraduate Degree in a related field combined with 3 to 5 years of experience leading full cycle Talent Acquisition and 2 years experience in a leadership role;
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or equivalent professional HR designation;
  • Overall knowledge of human resources/ Talent Acquisition function, practices and procedures;
  • Knowledge of relevant acts, regulations, collective agreements, quality service and customer service standards, staffing standards to effectively consult with managers regarding recruitment related implications;
  • Familiar with work permit and permanent resident application processes; and Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) processes;
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in all communications;
  • Expertise using social media for Talent Acquisition purposes;
  • Knowledge of HRIS and software such as Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook;
  • Excellent interpersonal and consultative skills with the ability to provide positive and constructive feedback to others regarding work performance with tact;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information from a wide variety of sources;
  • Maintain high level of accuracy despite interruptions, changing priorities and workload;
  • Ability to conceptualize creative plans and workable solutions for dealing with an array of management problems, while considering broader implications.

Preferred or Asset Skills…

  • Registered Professional Recruiter (RPR) designation;
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training Courses or Certificates;
  • Unconscious Bias Training.

Salary and Benefit Information

  • Job Grade (L), Salary Scale ($62,580.00 - $107,280.00)*;
  • Target Hiring Range: $62,580.00 - $74,000.00;
  • This position includes full comprehensive benefits and tuition waiver.

*The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
