The Position
As our Service Manager, your role is crucial in driving excellence and innovation across our HVAC, plumbing, and electrical service departments. This is not a technical role. Knowledge of our trade offerings is an asset but not a requirement. This is a people development, business enhancement, and customer service delivery role.
Responsibilities:
- Direct oversight of service technicians' performance and sales activities.
- Hosting weekly team meetings to discuss the service pipeline, address challenges, uphold performance standards, and reinforce safety compliance.
- Developing and producing reports on department performance, quality, and efficiency.
- Recruitment and comprehensive onboarding of new service technicians.
- Collaboration with technicians on truck stock management and vehicle policy compliance.
- Ensuring customer quotes are issued within company guidelines and meet minimum gross profit margins.
- Managing service work to stay within budget constraints.
- Monitoring the closure of work orders, payment collections, and ensuring system updates with appointment details.
- Procurement of tools, parts, and safety equipment for field technicians.
- Assessing performance metrics and organizing retraining sessions as necessary.
- Collaborating with support staff for efficient appointment scheduling and technician optimization.
- Organizing on-call schedules.
- Performing additional duties as needed for customer satisfaction and smooth operations.
Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of experience in a Service, Sales or equivalent management position.
- A proven track record in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical services management is strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience in strategic planning and financial management.
- Customer-first mindset with a history of high customer service standards.
- Technical proficiency in work order management and reporting systems.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and creative thinking.
- Meticulous attention to detail, especially in financial and safety matters.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices.
- Openness to continuous learning and improvement.
- Demonstrates initiative and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team setting.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with 3 or less demerits.
- Eligibility to clear background checks and drug screening tests.
