Service Technician

About the job

RHI Magnesita is seeking a Service Technician to work at one of our customer sites in the Hawkesbury, Ontario area. This role will provide inventory management, reporting and equipment maintenance at customer site. Excellent interactive skills are required, along with experience consulting with customers in an industrial setting with rigorous safety rules.

The tasks include:

  • Adherence to safety requirements and use of appropriate PPE.
  • Support refractory application and inventory management for products on site.
  • Establish good relationship with internal team / customer personnel.
  • Provide product installation support including customer product training.
  • Advise refractory crew during refractory usage.
  • Identify and report refractory quality or application issues.
  • Monthly KPI's data collection, analysis and follow up. Populate and update CPP tool with actual, goals, consumption and actions.
  • Generate the quarterly CPP Results Meeting Report, participate in the results presentation and discussions with customer.
  • Populate / distribute report of the latest melt shop performance; (checking items)
  • Inventory Control, through physical counts and maintain a web-based inventory control system, through constant updates.
  • Coordinate inbound logistics/demand planning for products, utilizing specific tools
  • Trouble shooting ability for operation of machinery/equipment, including pre-check certifications and standards.
  • Daily customer interface related to product sales and understanding customer expectations of product performance.
  • Data tracking related to RHIM products, and competitor product performance.
  • Daily communication with Superior regarding all customer developments: Threats, Potentials, Concerns.
  • Identify and relay information to Superior pertaining to performance of products, operational changes, recommendation of changes, review of competitor products and performance, application potentials, and general audit of customer. Report on quality issues and address problems and suggest solutions.
  • Participate in trials and document results with respect to new and old products. Assist with the completion of all pre-trial forms, and all trial closing forms.
  • Flexibility to respond to after-hours or emergency needs of the customer.
  • May be asked to support other customer accounts in region

About you

  • Have a strong safety mindset.
  • You are bilingual in French and English
  • Engineering Degree is a plus and/or experience in related industrial setting
  • Have experience working with unionized personnel.
  • Use excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Have a driver's license and personal vehicle
