We have an exciting opportunity for you as the Shelter Manager at Alberta Pound and Rescue Centres (APARC). Reporting directly to our Director of Bylaw Services and Directors, you'll be leading our animal shelter services and making a difference in the lives of animals every day.
Job Type: Full-Time
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead the sheltering, rehabilitation, fostering, and adoption of animals in our care, ensuring their well-being and finding them loving homes.
- Manage daily operations at APARC, including administrative tasks and mentoring our dedicated team.
- Take responsibility for veterinary and animal management, financial planning, and facility maintenance.
- Develop and support volunteer programs, as well as initiatives for animal adoption and fostering.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and shelter staff, providing guidance and support.
- Implement creative marketing, public relations, and media strategies to raise awareness of APARC and our programs.
- Establish and enforce protocols for adoption and fostering, ensuring the best outcomes for our animals.
- Collaborate regularly with key stakeholders and stay updated on industry trends and city bylaws.
What We're Looking For:
- Completion of post-secondary education and 3 to 5 years of experience in animal shelter roles.
- Extensive knowledge of animal care, veterinary practices, and adoption/fostering programs.
- Familiarity with city bylaws and recent experience in marketing, PR, and media relations.
- Strong planning and implementation skills for animal care programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a customer-centric approach to build positive relationships with our community.
