Shop Assistant

Can-Design is an environmental graphics company specializing in large format printing, window graphics, wayfinding, construction, retail signage and custom fabrication. For over 25 years, we have worked with amazing clients in many industries including retail, construction, development, architecture, interior design, non-profit, food service and many more. As we continue to grow, we have an exciting opportunity for a Shop Assistant to join our Fabrication and Production Department.

Education & Experience

· Previous sign production or installation experience is an asset, but not required (ex. 3M certified installer)

· Experience with scissor lifts / boom lifts is an asset

· Experience and skillful with using exacto knife, and blades, hand & power tools

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

· Valid Class 5 Driving License with clean driving record

Duties & Responsibilities

· Review all proof sheets and ask questions if anything is unclear

· Familiarity with handling various materials from acrylic, MDF, aluminum, and vinyl

· Ensure all products meet proof sheet standards prior to sign off on all tasks

· Package according to work order

· Maintain a clean and clear work environment

· Assist in custom fabrication tasks as required

· Assist in on-site installation as required

· Flexible to work weekends or overtime when required*

Skills & Qualifications

· Highly detail-oriented and can follow direct instructions

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment

· Ability to consistently work in a fast-paced environment

· Fast learner, efficient and deadline oriented

· Excellent time management skills

· Willingness to grow in your career in the large format print industry

· Punctual and reliable

· Ability to lift 50lbs and work on your feet for duration of the day
