Job Description
About this job:
We are seeking a technically strong and solution-oriented Software Developer to join the IT force in our Group IT Department in order to strengthen the team responsible for a wide variety of solutions, supporting the reinsurance activities in the Life & Health unit.
In this role you will be responsible for the development of new applications and application changes with focus on quality assurance.
In more detail your area of duties will be:
- Software Design and Development:
- In colaboration with the Business Experts, Product Owners and Business Analysts
- Study business needs and investigate problems
- Analyse and document inter-system dependencies in a heterogenous environment
- Produce or support the creation of required artifacts (Product Backlog Items or specification documents)
- Support users during test execution
- Contribute to project planning
- Work with product and release management to control risk, improve quality and streamline our release cycles
- Design and develop software solutions
- Prepare and support the deployment of solutions
- Operations and Support:
- Provide 2nd level support to business users
- Continuous Improvement: conducing system and process analysis, recommending changes
- Maintain PartnerRe applications in our Azure cloud environment
About you:
To be an ideal candidate you have the following background, skills and mindset:
- A university degree or equivalent in Computer Science
- At least 3 years experience in designing and developing software solutions
- Proficiency in .NET Framework or .NET Core (C#), front-end web development (JavaScript, jQuery, TypeScript, CSS, Bootstrap, ASP.NET MVC, Blazor), Web API, Entity Framework, relational databases (MS SQL), data modeling etc.
- Version control (GIT), CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge about low-code/no-code tools is a plus but not required
- Ability to work with an existing large code base, leveraging multiple programming languages and frameworks
- Experience in applying architecture and design patterns
- Ability to triage bugs and write actionable bug reports
- Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures
- Experience in agile software development
- Excellent communication and language skills in English (proficient verbal and in writing), as you will interact with the IT and the Business community on a daily basis
- High motivation and capable of working in a challenging international environment across multiple locations
- Ability to work effectively both within a team and also independently
- Have a proactive attitude, driven towards finding solutions and being responsive
- Experience in additional programming languages (R, Python) is a plus
- Experience in the insurance or reinsurance business is a plus but not required
- Experience in test automation in a Cloud environment will be a plus
- Experience in Azure Cloud will be a plus
