The Role:
In this role you will:
- Oversee Strategic Work plans:
- Strategic work plans have been designed for new and existing areas of work in Education Programs and Services. With input from staff and clients, the Specialist coordinates and guides staff through strategic planning exercises. This role leads and coordinates the development and implementation of related programs and projects Including the Customer Service for Construction Projects initiative.
- Research and Provide Strategic Input:
- With new and existing programs in the section, ongoing research is required to ensure best practices are considered and implemented as part of the Customer Service for Construction project initiative as well as other program and service areas.
- Provide Program Support:
- The Specialist provides support to all programs where needed in the Education Programs and Services section including guidance and management through research, analysis and assistance with projects. The Specialist will actively support the Customer Service for Construction Projects initiative. The Specialist will monitor, analyze and report on specialized areas concerning the initiative. The Specialist provides strategic input and program support for client groups including Water, Wastewater, Waste Management, Transportation and Operations Support.
- Coordinate and Oversee Projects:
- There are several projects ongoing in this work area and new pilot programs in progress and on the horizon. This role research, develops and assists in the enhancement of existing programs, and the coordination of new programs and pilot study programs where needed.
- Other Operational and Reporting Duties:
- The Specialist provides support on the operating budget and performance metrics. This includes researching and implementing best practices related to the collection of feedback from internal and external stakeholders and identifying opportunities for program improvements.
- Staff program reports are reviewed by the Specialist for their expert program knowledge. As needed any procurement documents related to program development are coordinated by this role. Quarterly and year end sectional budgeting comments and tracking is reported and developed by the Specialist.
What the role requires:
- A university degree related to science, environment, or engineering field with a combined minimum of five years experience.
- Project Management, research and analytical skills are required.
- Proven experience in strategic program planning is required to perform this job.
- Extensive experience coordinating and leading projects.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly with MS Office products including excel, PowerBI, Word and Power Point
- Working knowledge of current Public Works practices and Principles.
- Working knowledge of water/wastewater capital construction process.
- Demonstrated initiative with the ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for presentations and participating on project work teams with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong research, analysis, and written communication and report writing skills.
- Organized with strong planning and effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively simplify complex technical information for general consumption.
- Ability to time manage several projects simultaneously and identify priority activities.

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 2 Copper Rd., Brampton, ON worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
