We are currently looking for experienced fire suppression technicians to join our Life Safety Services Department.
Position: Fire Suppression Technician
Job Classification: Full-time / Permanent
Compensation: Negotiable (based on experience)
Work Environment: Primarily field-based servicing on live oil sites
Key Responsibilities
- Inspections on wet, dry, and suppression systems
- Annual and weekly fire pump runs and repairs
- Annual inspections of monitor nozzles
- Annual Inspection of fire hydrants and standpipes
- Troubleshoot and repair sprinkler deficiencies
- Plan and execute small jobs in a time and cost-effective manner
- Work alone or with an apprentice under minimal supervision
- Fill out and submit reports by end of job
- Knowledge of sprinkler code and standard
- Join our on call rotation
- Excellent communication with customers and keen eye for detail
Requirements
- Extensive experience running small project alone or with a helper
- Experience in 5-year, 3-year, annual, semi annual, and quarterly inspections
- Extensive experience in wet, dry, and suppression systems
- Extensive experience with fire pumps and backflows
- Service and trouble shooting experience
- Computer literate and knowledge of Microsoft excel, outlook, and word
- Experience in fire protection in hazardous areas would be considered an asset
- 2 – 3 years' experience servicing and maintaining kitchen hood systems
- Valid Class 5 License
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Excellent customer relations skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- H2S, First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, TDG, CSTS 2020 required prior to start date
Additional Assets
- Fire suppressions systems certification
- Experience with servicing and testing of fire suppression systems
- Fire alarm certification
- Experience with servicing and testing of fire alarms
