The LDB has been assigned to distribute, wholesale, and sell non-medicinal cannabis inclusive of a government owned online channel with a mandate to support government’s key priorities of protecting public health and safety, promoting social responsibility, and eliminating the illicit market. Since 2018, the BC Cannabis Stores chain has grown to 39 locations across the province, providing an educational, safe, and socially responsible outlet for the BC public to engage with non-medical cannabis products. We distribute cannabis to all licensed retail locations across BC and work with licensed producers across Canada to provide a wide product assortment that is centrally distributed.
The Store Manager, under the general supervision of the Regional Manager, is responsible for the management of a major retail operation, by providing leadership and direction, controlling costs and maximizing revenue through the achievement of sales targets. Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service and education to the public.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for developing and implementing operational plans, developing annual store budgets, controlling employment costs, and analyzing reports.
- Contribute to establish and improve the Cannabis Store image through the implementation and maintenance of policies.
- Performs human resources functions including supervision, recruitment, hiring, discipline, authorizing leave, approving overtime and formally appraising employee performance. Assesses and determines human resource requirements and recommends staffing levels.
- Monitors sales, stock levels and trends in particular products or brands and works with Merchandising Replenishment Analysts to maximize results.
- Works with the Regional Manager in the development of operational plans in order to meet the broader objectives of the LDB Cannabis Division business plan.
- Other duties as required
A criminal record check and Selling it Right Certificate is required.
Position Requirements
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of two years of recent, related experience* leading a team within a customer-facing retail operation.
Must includeexperience with customer service and the management of assets.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Degree, diploma, or certificate in business or retail management.
- Experience working in a government or regulatory environment.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Experience working in the cannabis industry.
- Formal course work in cannabis from an accredited post-secondary institution.
*Recent, related experience is defined as occurring within the past 5 years. Experience must be in a confirmed position and not in a relief capacity.
