Point Pelee National Park
We are currently looking for motivated students to work in a variety of positions at Point Pelee National Park in Leamington, ON. At the southernmost point of the Canadian mainland - Point Pelee National Park, experience nature like never before. In Canada’s second smallest and most ecologically diverse National Park, you’ll be immersed in an unforgettable eco-adventure. Duties

SU-01 Grounds Maintenance Youth
Provides general maintenance and labour services working on trails, gardens, grounds, roads and solid waste management and related facilities maintenance; support trades staff in construction and installations; and other general maintenance and repair requirements as directed.
SU-02 Heritage Presenter
Responsible for learning and delivering education programs, presenting interpretive demonstrations, leading guided tours, assisting with the development and presentation of special events, acting as an ambassador for the site (both on-site and off-site), as well as other related activities. Additionally, working on the site’s point of sale system.
Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset.
SU-03 Visitor Services Attendant
Visitor services and revenue collection at the campground office and retail location, to enhance visitor experience. This includes providing comprehensive information to the visiting public on a wide variety of topics including but not limited to: campgrounds, trails, points of interest, safety, wilderness travel, park regulations and policies, selling a variety of passes, and properly accounting for revenue received.
Cleans and maintains Parks Canada Agency campground facilities and grounds. This includes but is not limited to the daily cleaning of; campground washroom facilities, campsite cleaning/maintenance, grounds cleaning and litter picking, emptying of trash and recycling receptacles.
Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset.
SU-05 Resource Conservation Youth
Assist our ecologists and technicians with wildlife and vegetation monitoring, preventing and mitigating human-wildlife conflicts, as well as active management projects including invasive plant management, ecological research, and turtle research and monitoring in the park. These positions will require both data management and extensive field work.
SU-06 Visitor Facilities Attendant
Cleans and maintains Parks Canada Agency day use area buildings, facilities and grounds. This includes but is not limited to the daily cleaning of; day use area washrooms/pit privies, grounds cleaning and litter picking, emptying of trash and recycling receptacles. It also involves interaction with park visitors to provide basic information and direction.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to hire students for summer 2024. The exact number of positions available is to be determined. Opportunities are 37.5 or 40 hours per week.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Depending on the position, possession of a valid class G1, G2 or G driver’s license;
Work shift-work, including evening, weekends, and holidays;
Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the uniform policy;
Handle live animals;
Work outdoors in varying temperatures and inclement weather;
Work and/or travel in varied terrains and by various means of transportation;
Parks Canada prohibits smoking in the workplace;
