We are looking for energic counselors for our location at St. Joan of Arc School in Oakville.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading a group of campers in some of the following camps: Crafts, Outdoor Adventure Camps, Lego Robotics, STEM, Sports Development, Cake decorating, SPA Science, Crochet & Needleworks
- Lead the group through the daily schedule including material preparation , the core activities , transition between activities, lunch period and outside play activity and maintain a clean area/section
- Assist with Check In /Check Out as required
- Engaging with all campers to assist them as required in completing their activities
- Providing consistent leadership to the group to encourage positive group interactions
- Creating and fostering a safe, fun & inclusive environment for all campers
- Ability to resolve conflict positively and fairly between campers
- Safely Supervise and guide a group of kids while on field trip outings once a week. Includes safe bus loading/travel/ unloading, group movement at the site
- Following the direction of the Site Supervisor and working within a team structure both offering and accepting help as needed
Successful Applicants should :
- Should be available for the entire camp period Monday to Friday from July 2nd to August 30, 2024.
- Must have a current police vulnerable sector search done
- Must have a valid First Aid/CPR level C certificate
- Must have completed at least 1 year of University or college studies
- Should have teamwork and collaboration mindset and skills
- Strong planning & organizational skills with the ability to be flexible for change as well
- Should have on the spot problem solving skills
- Should enjoy interacting with campers from ages 4 to 12
- Must be patient and be comfortable working in a loud & hectic setting
- Minimum 1 year of previous camp experience an asset
- Mandatory paid staff training days prior to camp (Mid June) in Mississauga
Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 9 weeks
Salary: $16.55-$17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
