Summer Position - Technician’s Helper – July 02, 2024, to August 30, 2024

This program is designed for young adults like you and offers valuable hands-on experience working alongside experienced Simplicity Air Technicians. You'll have the opportunity to learn from their decades of expertise. If you've finished high school and are considering a career in the Trades, then this program could be just what you need.
For youth interested in entering a rewarding trades career, the Futures Program as a Technician’s Helper promotes an individual’s development and experience through exposure and responsibility within the Simplicity Air mobile heating and air conditioning service environment. Working alongside our skilled service technicians will form the foundations to develop the multi-disciplinary skills required to succeed in all trades while establishing a thorough understanding of various mechanical systems and products which support vehicle climate and idle management.
Main Duties:
- Move tools, equipment, and other materials to and from work areas.
- Support service area for technicians.
- Assist with troubleshooting at the job site.
- Assist with completing service-related processes and paperwork.
- Keep work areas clean and orderly.
- Assist with assembling, installing, and repairing HVAC components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and controls.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools.
- Assist with positioning, aligning, and adjusting parts for proper fit and assembly and connect cables, tubes, and wires.
- Comply with safety regulations.
- Assist with testing for leaks using testing devices.
- Perform other tasks as required.
What to Expect:
The individual will receive training and mentoring in the mobile air conditioning industry. During this time, the individual will learn about work ethics, health & safety, how to use trade-related tools and equipment, and how that individual can provide value to their future employer. This role will be evaluated throughout the term of employment within the areas of performance and the following categories:

Criteria:
The Futures Program – Technician’s Helper is open to individuals who have completed high school and are interested in pursuing a trades career in one of the following careers:
- Agricultural Equipment Technician
- Automotive Service Technician
- Powered Lift Truck Technician
- Truck and Coach Technician
- Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician
- Millwright
- Motive Power Machinist
- Small Engine Technician

Wage/Timelines/Hours of Work:
- $17.50 per hour
- Start Date: Tuesday, July 02, 2024
- End Date: Friday, August 30, 2024
- Monday to Friday: 8 am to 5pm or 7am to 4pm = 42.5 hours per week with ½ hour unpaid lunch.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 months
Salary: $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 42.5 per week
