Job Description
Title: Summer Student Program Coordinator
Title of immediate supervisor: Manager.
Basic function and purpose: The Summer Program Student is responsible for assisting with and developing summer programming for Houston Link to Learning. This includes the Community Garden, Houston Farmers Market and other summer programs.
Tasks
1. Assist with the development and implementation of activities for the Garden with the focus on relationship building, landscaping and horticultural skills.
2. Assist with the development and implementation of activities for all other Houston
Link to Learning summer programming.
3. Lead the participants in activities that promote literacy skills.
4. Work in partnership with the other service agencies to ensure that the success of the garden and other programming and awareness of its activities.
5. Evaluate the progress of all summer programs.
6. Maintain the upkeep of the garden with volunteers i.e. weeding, shoveling, mowing and watering.
7. Discuss progress of summer programs with HLL Staff.
8. Guide and assist participants in the development of all summer programs.
9. Attend job related in-services, workshops and meetings as required.
10. Maintain statistics for each program and activity.
11. Maintain a journal of tasks and time spent on tasks to be submitted to the coordinator bi-weekly.
12. Maintain confidentiality at all times
13. Perform other related tasks and duties as required.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 4 months
Salary: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Houston, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
