At SMS Equipment, our Supervisor, Site Servicesis responsible for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of the assigned work area. The Supervisor, Site Serviceswill oversee a variety of trades people, all of whom maintain, repair, rebuild all types of heavy mining and construction equipment. This position is in Fort McMurray, AB.
The shift rotation for this position is 14x14. Housing is available.
The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $170,000.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner, by performing job observations, review and sign off on FLRA’s, facility inspections and set safety standards and expectations, in-line with the guidelines.
- Ensure that operational requirements are met by supervising, the activities of tradespeople who repair and maintain equipment on customer sites.
- Take corrective action for improvement by providing counselling and utilizing the disciplining process when standards are not met.
- Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations to provide a safe work environment and meet regulatory requirements.
- Deal with hazards and issues promptly and brings unresolved issues to the next level of management.
- Ensure all employees on the crew know and understand the safety rules and processes.
- Review jobs and processes to create JHA’s specific to their area of responsibility and makes recommendations for SWP’s.
- Responsible for keeping employee safety training up to date and ensure the training is documented and recorded in the employee file.
- Bring awareness to safety by participating fully in all Branch and Company safety programs.
- Ensure payroll and human resources policies and procedures are met and enforced.
- Ensure all employees are operating in alignment with the SMS Mission, Vision, and values.
- Lead toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings.
- Provide technical assistance and required materials and tooling to employees to maximize efficiency und equipment availability.
- Serve customers by providing service information and by resolving service problems using all branch and factory resources.
- Attend customer meetings as required.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a relevant trade certification paired with a minimum of 4 years experience as a qualified tradesperson. Additional requirements include:
- 3 years proven supervisory experience overseeing and coordinating trades.
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment.
- Good computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of OHSE acts and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
