Support Person Objective:
The main objective of the Support Person is to enhance the skill development of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Staff Structure
Under the direction and supervision of the General Manager and in consultation with the department supervisor, the Support Person is responsible for the following:
Programming Responsibilities
Implement effective teaching strategies to ensure programs are completed in an efficient manner.
Assist in the completion of participant assessments and evaluations, as required.
Assist with the orientation of new participants to the program, as required.
Support in the development of participant’s life skills, including the development of good work habits and job readiness skills.
Support and monitor participants in all production and program areas.
Ensure participants follow proper safety procedures.
Supervise participants at break and lunch as assigned.
Assist participants with daily living skills i.e. personal care and nutritional needs.
Assist participants with needs associated with arrival at work and departure from work, as assigned.
Supervise participants on walks or recreational outings.
Other Duties
Assist with light housekeeping duties.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Salary: $20.00-$29.53 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
