Job description

Hensall Co-op is seeking a dynamic individual to become an integral member of our team! The Sustainability Coordinator is full-time, responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing sustainability initiatives within the organization. The role involves collaborating with various departments to promote environmentally friendly practices, reduce the organization's environmental impact, and foster a culture of sustainability. This role would be working out of the Hensall location with the opportunity for hybrid work.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute comprehensive sustainability strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Conduct assessments to identify areas that directly impact the organization’s environmental footprint.
  • Formulate and update sustainability policies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Communicate policies to staff and stakeholders, providing guidance on sustainability best practices.
  • Prepare regular reports on the organization's sustainability performance for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure sustainability standards are met throughout the supply chain.
  • Research the latest trends, practices and news related to sustainability.
  • Arrange, coordinate, and participate in internal sustainability audits.
  • Conduct cost benefit analyses for sustainable strategies.
  • Evaluate and promote sustainable sourcing practices.
  • Understand and follow all HC Health and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Friendly, courteous attitude
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Effective organizational and superior customer service skills
  • High level computer skills, including MS Word and Excel

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education in Agriculture, Environmental Science or Business-related program
  • Previous experience in a similar position preferred.
