Job Summary

This role reports to the Sr. Director of Talent Management for our Canada business unit and supports the talent strategy through delivery of programs and processes for pipeline talent, capability building for accurate identification of high potentials, talent review and succession planning, partnership in the selection and onboarding processes, assessment, coaching, and development planning.

This role will additionally partner with Enterprise Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Culture, Human Resources Business partners (HRBPs), and people leaders to ensure diverse sourcing strategies and a best-in-class employee experience for pipeline leader roles.

The role incumbent will know the teams and departments in the business well and deliver on the talent actions needed to enable business results. They will deeply understand aspirations, capabilities, and development actions of high potential and promotable pipeline talent and influence key talent decisions through trust and credibility with HRBP leaders, people leaders, Shared Services, and Enterprise Talent Management partners.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Support the assessment, coaching and development for High Potential and Promotable leaders through customized individual development plans focused on future role readiness. Serve as assessment/individual development planning coach for emerging High Potential talent within the Business Unit.
  • Support planning and facilitation of talent review and succession discussions to identify successors for direct reports to Executive Leadership Team members (usually Sr. Directors and VPs), ensuring inclusive processes.
  • Support high level talent discussions for leaders and professionals deeper in the organization as necessitated by the Business Unit.
  • Contribute to and support the Business Unit talent strategy with a focus on building a diverse pipeline and building organizational capability.
  • Aggregate talent data and insights to contribute to BU talent strategy in alignment with Enterprise business and talent needs.
  • Support HRBP and people manager talent capability through delivery, consultation, and tools.
  • Ensure best-in-class new leader experience through onboarding and assimilation activities for pipeline external hires and promotions (usually Sr. Directors/VPs).
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure diverse selection approaches for direct report to Executive Leadership Team leaders (and others as identified by the Business Unit for key top leaders in growth areas) through internal and external strategic pipelining, exploration of diversity pipelines, and success profile/interview design.
  • Partner with Diversity Equity and Inclusion team to build diverse pipelines and partner on innovative solutions for infusing diversity into pipeline roles. Collaborate on selection for pipeline diversity programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Talent and Succession Planning team:
  • To co-architect Enterprise tools, approaches, and processes related to talent and succession, representing the voice of the business through feedback for the Business Unit.
  • To aggregate talent data to identify Business Unit nominees for High Potential development programs, assessment cohorts, and other developmental opportunities.
  • To present business case for requests for external executive coaching for High Potential leaders.

General Responsibilities

  • Experience with assessment tools (i.e.: Hogan, 360, etc.)
  • Broader experience within HR is a plus (i.e.: L&D, HRBP, Org Dev, employee engagement, change management, etc.)
  • Team Development experience (New Leader Assimilation, 5 Dysfunctions of a Team, Working Genius, etc)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent professional work experience in lieu of education
  • 3-5 years of Talent Management Experience

Key Competencies

  • Experience with Workday Enterprise Management Cloud or a similar employee experience system is considered to be a strong asset
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment
  • Evidence of good stakeholder relations at multiple leadership levels
  • Experience leading development programs
  • Proven experience with workforce planning
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), is considered a valuable asset

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$69,700 - $116,100
