What's the Job?

This is a one-year fixed-term contract. There is a possibility to extend dependent on the needs of the team and our projected growth.

Reporting into Lead People Ops Manager, you would be responsible for hiring for key roles on our team. You’d have the opportunity to work on research & development related roles (including software development and product design) as well as roles related to our learning services (learning designers, artists, and more). You’ll manage the end-to-end hiring process for the requisitions you own, including the job intake, job description development, resume screening, hiring process coordination, initial screening, alignment of hiring committees for each role, and extending offers. In addition, you’d support our People Ops Lead in various aspects of people & culture, such as participating in our Culture Committee, Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, collaborating on policies, and supporting other parts of the employee experience.

What will you do?

In this role you’ll be wearing many hats, so we’ve tried to prioritize as clearly as possible. Here’s a breakdown of your role, but of course you’ll evolve this over time based on your strengths and the changing priorities of our team!


Hiring & Filling Roles (70%)

  • Talent Operations: Talent operations: Introduce new systems to improve the hiring process, such as an ATS, and any other systems to make scheduling and interviewing more efficient.
  • Employer branding: Elevate our careers site as well as our presence on existing social media channels by incorporating your perspective on what our target candidates want to learn about. Introduce new materials to showcase our brand to candidates and improve their interview experience, such as pitch decks.
  • Employer presence: Provide your take on which job sites and hiring events we should be on, and execute on a plan to expand Promise Robotics’ presence in these channels.
  • Interviewer training: contribute to interviewer training materials and run training with hiring managers.
  • Candidate experience: find ways to measure and improve the candidate experience.
  • Interview process: Align hiring managers on our assessment process and give feedback on any areas of improvement.
  • Hiring: Owning the end-to-end management of all our open requisitions and work towards the team’s hiring goals. This includes: intake, assessment design, job description writing, job posting, resume screening, initial screening interviews, hiring process coordination, communicating with candidates about interview results within reasonable timelines, and extending offers.
  • Hiring manager advisory: Advise hiring managers on interview best practices and giving feedback on interviews.
  • Internship program: Own our internship program, including job posting and full-cycle recruitment with our current co-op and internship partners.

People Operations Support (30%)


  • Culture: Participate in our Culture Committee and contribute to the organization of social events and other initiatives that connect our remote team.
  • Policy: Collaborate with the People Ops Lead on the development and roll out of new policies.
  • Health & Safety: Participate in our Joint Health & Safety Committee by participating in regular meetings and contributing to initiatives that promote the safety of our team.
  • Internal Communications: work with our Lead People Ops Manager on monthly newsletter, all-hands, and organizing strategic planning offsites.


Qualifications / Skills:

  • 3-5 years of experience owning end-to-end hiring for scaling teams and a strong track record of delivering on hiring goals
  • Proven experience owning impactful initiatives in the areas of employer branding, talent operations, and/or candidate experience
  • A desire to learn about and contribute to other areas of talent and people operations
  • An interest in and understanding of creating a hiring and employee experience that is equitable and inclusive
  • [Nice to have] Industry experience in an organization that provides products or services focused on learning and training

RaceRocks is a remote-first company with team members across Canada, with an office for optional use in Victoria, BC. Team members are required to be available for team building and collaboration during core operating hours of 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Pacific Time. Outside of core working hours, we offer flexibility to support work-life balance. Although our HQ is in Victoria, BC we are open to hiring candidates from nearly anywhere in Canada. At this time, we do not have the infrastructure to support hiring candidates from Quebec or to hire/support working internationally.
