Job Summary
As a Technician, Animal Behavior & Enrichment for our Quarantine facility located in Laval, you will be responsible for the well-being of our laboratory animals. Your contribution will ensure the health of our animals, as well as the integrity of our pre-clinical studies.
 
In this role, primary responsibilities include:
-Assess and monitor animals’ behavioral health and implement programs and treatments for animals needing special attention
-Ensure good welfare and humane care for all animals worked with through gentle, positive human-animal interactions
-Ensure appropriate enrichments to the animals’ structural and social environments and provide opportunities for species-typical activities
-Evaluate new enrichment devices and strategies for animals
-Revise the Behavioral Management Program and relevant procedures as needed to ensure accordance with the Animal Welfare Act and professional standards
Key Elements
We are looking for the following minimum qualifications for this role: 
-College Diploma in Animal Health, Bioecology or any related Animal Science discipline  
-At least 3 years’ experience related to Animal Science
-Knowledge and experience related to animal Behavior (asset)
-Able to work physically (lift up to 20 kg, walk, stand, stoop, etc.)
 
Please note that upon being hired, you will have to undergo an annual tuberculosis test at the expense of the company. 
Role Specific Information:
-Location: 531 Boul. Des Prairies, Laval / Free parking / Near the subway Montmorency
-Salary: Starting at 23$/hrs
-Premiums: Overtime (time and a half)
-Annual bonus based on performance
-Schedule: Weekdays, between Monday to Friday. Depending on the needs, you may have to do overtime 
-Permanent position as of the hiring, full-time 37.5hrs per week

About Safety Assessment
Charles River is committed to helping our partners expedite their preclinical drug development with exceptional safety assessment services, state-of-the-art facilities and expert regulatory guidance. From individual specialty toxicology and IND enabling studies to tailored packages and total laboratory support, our deeply experienced team can design and execute programs that anticipate challenges and avoid roadblocks for a smooth, efficient journey to market.  Each year approximately 300 investigational new drug (IND) programs are conducted in our Safety Assessment facilities.
