Kamloops Truss is currently seeking a Timber Production Labourer to join our team in Kamloops, BC.

Position Overview:

The Timber Production Labourer at Kamloops Truss Ltd. Your primary responsibility is to assist in the manufacturing and processing of timber products. You will work in a team environment under the supervision of experienced personnel to ensure efficient and safe operation of equipment and machinery. The Timber production Labourer position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and quality of Timber Production processes. By following established procedures, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and actively participating in various tasks, you contribute to the overall success and reputation of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to all safe work procedures and regulations established by Kamloops Truss Ltd. Ensuring personal and team safety by following WorkSafe BC compliance standards during all work processes.
  • Pre-Work Assessment: Participate in completing a daily FLHA (Field Level Hazard Assessment) with the supervisor before commencing work to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Maintenance and Cleanliness: Assist in maintaining and ensuring the general cleanliness of work areas within Kamloops Truss, including organizing tools and equipment. Follow lockout procedures meticulously during all maintenance activities.
  • Quality Assurance: Verify the accurate production and packaging of all components for delivery, ensuring they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Shop Organization: Contribute to shop organization efforts to maintain a clean, tidy, and hazard-free environment. Assist in tarp organization and distribution as required.
  • General Shop Duties: Be available to assist with general shop duties and regular operations as requested by the Lead Hand or Supervisor. This may include cross-training to gain knowledge and experience in various shop areas and providing relief to other EWP production positions.
  • Seasonal Yard Maintenance: Perform seasonal yard maintenance tasks such as snow removal, sanding, restocking sand/salt, sweeping walkways, and pressure washing buildings and walkways as needed to ensure a safe and functional work environment.
  • Timber Product Finishing: Undertake tasks such as sanding, planing, and staining timber products to meet quality standards and customer specifications.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is advantageous.
  • Ability to operate machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Dependable, punctual, and responsible.
  • Knowledge and understanding of job site safety.
  • Competent around tools, wood components, and construction/manufacturing.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Assets:

  • Proven Previous Experience with woodworking tools (Sanders, Planers, Hand Tools, and Stain).
  • Forklift Certification.

Job Type: Full-Time.

Salary: $20.00-$24.00/hr. based on a combination of skills and experience.

Schedule: 8-hour shift - Monday – Friday, no weekends, overtime may be required.
