The logistics Manager role is to plan all transportation activities with efficiency and assign staff and equipment in accordance with customer requirements. The incumbent understands and enforces the rules that govern milk transportation, health and safety in the workplace and the regulations and policies of Agropur for transport and road safety.
The Logistics Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and performance of driver and garage maintenance personnel. Responsible for managing the team and operations of the Sussex garage. Collaborates with Milk Marketing Boards, producers and other stake holders.

What’s involved in this role:
- Plans and adjusts schedules for pickups and interplant work effectively taking into account important parameters (volume, product requirements, distances, the time of completion, etc).
- Managers a team of 40 plus drivers and garage maintenance personnel. Ensures that the employees have received the required training, have been informed of Agropur policies and procedures, that the team respects the laws governing transport as a whole as well as the transport of milk
- Assigns the drivers efficiently and equitably, taking into consideration skills, driver availability, the availability of equipment, the labour agreement (where applicable), seniority, and the availability of driving hours.
- Scheduling units for weekly repair and maintenance.Response quickly to any issues such as breakdowns, incidents and complaints.
- Analyzes and modifies routes with DFNB to ensure all producers are arranged for pickup in the most efficient way possible. Offers the best routes taking into account the constraints of the Spring weight restrictions. Regularly checks the effectiveness of routes and the activities associated with the collection of milk on farms
- Monitors monthly financial statement from DFNB.
- Ensures that the team respects the laws governing transport as a whole as well as the specifics of milk transportation.
- Managing all aspects of safety and quality including convictions, carrier abstract, incident investigation and crew talks.
- Conforms equipment to maintenance plans and requirement from a safety and conformity standpoint
- Monitors company metrics such as idle time, overspeed and recommends areas of improvement
What you need to join our team:
- Diploma in logistics and transport, ideally a BA in operations management, engineering or equivalent.
- Education in Transport regulation is necessary
- 3 to 5 years in the transport sector, in a similar position, governed by a labour agreement ideally
- Basic mechanical knowledge is an asset.
- The position requires on duty coverage in a 24-7 environment.
