About the role

We’re looking for a Unit Claims Manager, Accident Benefits, to join our growing team! As a Unit Claims Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to a team of claims professionals. You and your team will be accountable for providing quality service, completing work processes effectively and efficiently, and continuously identifying areas of improvement.

This position could be available in our Moncton, NB, Dartmouth, NS or St. John’s NL offices, dependent on the location of the successful candidate.


What you'll do here:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of business plans and manage operations to achieve key business goals.
  • Provide effective leadership, motivate staff and be responsible for hiring employees and delivering performance feedback.
  • Provide coaching on technical and professional skills for your team and facilitate continuous learning by building robust development plans for your employees.
  • Develop, recommend and implement management and organizational initiatives to support company strategies including changes to organizational structure and process/technology improvements.
  • Act in a consultative and advisory capacity on claims matters such as liability determination, policy interpretation and settlement negotiation to help resolve claims-related issues.
  • Liaise with other claims experts on technical and administrative issues.
  • Maintain a respectful and productive business relationship with vendors, service providers, legal firms and internal client groups.


What you bring to the table:

  • Extensive experience helping customers through the claims journey
  • Completed or working towards your Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
  • Current or ability to be licensed in New Brunswick, PEI, and Newfoundland
  • Experience in Claims and/or Insurance
  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
  • Proven ability to coach and develop staff
  • Ability to lead and influence
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of provincial legislation governing auto insurance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff
