Position Summary:
Reporting to the Public Works Supervisors, the Uptown Maintenance Labourer will be involved in cleanup and maintenance activities of the uptown Leamington area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Garbage collection in Leamington’s uptown area.
- Litter and debris pickup throughout the uptown area including alleys, parking lots and sidewalks.
- Daily, ongoing cleaning and maintenance of public areas.
- Assist in maintenance including grass cutting, trimming, and weeding.
- Provide friendly customer service to members of the community.
- Comply with applicable provincial and municipal legislation including the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and the Municipality’s Records and Information Management Program.
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable regulations, as well as the Municipality’s Health and Safety Program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Must have a secondary school diploma or equivalent GED, or post-secondary education.
- Must demonstrate an ability to perform a variety of manual tasks related to the Public Works division.
- Must be able to lift heavy items for long periods.
- Must possess a valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s licence and have experience in the operation and maneuverability of light duty and oversized vehicles.
- Must have experience with operation of utility tractors/riding lawn mowers, weed eaters, turf and landscaping equipment.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.
- Familiarity with a construction environment is an asset.
Hours of Work and Working Conditions:
This position is employed for 40 hours per week. Daytime, evening, and holiday hours are required.
Holidays are scheduled: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
