Yard Maintenance Labourer

Rice Aggregates Limited is a supplier of quality aggregates to the industry, including aggregates supplied by the largest producers and products made to exacting standards by Rice Commercial Group forces.

We are looking for a like-minded individual to join our fast pace environment at our Queensville yard but occasionally may work out of our Mount Albert yard and on construction sites. Someone with a positive attitude that demonstrates great organization skills and maintains a safe work area.

Responsibilities:

We are searching for an individual who is looking for experience in the construction and aggregates field. This position is responsible for various tasks, a great learning experience with lots of opportunity for advancement within the company.

Reporting to the General Manager, this position is responsible for:

• Yard maintenance such as shoveling, raking, miscellaneous yard clean up, general house cleaning and maintenance as directed by General Manager,
• Operation of small tools; water pumps, plate tampers, jumping jacks and generators,
• Furthermore this position may include operating some heavy equipment such as, skid steers, compaction equipment and rock trucks.
• Assist the team with the installation, assembly, and disassembly of various pieces of equipment,
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions, as well as independently and in team environments,
• Ensure the Queensville Site is maintained in a safe manner (trenches fenced off, holes covered, proper traffic control, etc.),
• Has the utmost respect for safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and ensures any concerns are reported,
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Knowledge and ability to use various hand tools, power tools and small equipment,
• Must be able to professionally deal with fellow employees, superiors, clients/residents &/or members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner,
• We require a good safety record and the highest degree of dependability,
• Able to work long days, flexible work hours & weekends,
• Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract,
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role (heavy lifting, bending, climbing, working at heights),
• Strong problem-solving skills,
• Exhibits strong teamwork, verbal and written skills,
• Ability to work safely in a fast pace environment,
• Must speak fluent English.
