HydraTek & Associates is an employee-owned engineering specialist consultancy focussed on Urban Water System modelling generally including: (i) municipal water pumping, transmission and distribution systems; (ii) wastewater collection, pumping and conveyance systems; and (iii) urban drainage systems. Additionally, select assignments involve analysis of other system types, such as hydropower, slurries, oil & gas as well as jet fuel. The firm is based in Vaughan (Ontario) and has projects throughout Ontario, across Canada, in the USA and Mexico as well as other international locations. HydraTek was originally founded in 1988 by Dr. Bryan Karney, a professor at the University of Toronto and who continues to be engaged with the firm.

About the Position
The ideal candidate for this position is a Civil (or Mechanical) Engineering graduate with at least 3-5 years of related experience in municipal Urban Water Systems engineering and modelling in Ontario is and licensed (or soon-to-be eligible for licensure) as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
The role is expected to generally include the following activities:
(A) Development and application of hydraulic models for various analysis types including (but not limited to): (i) steady-state Water System analysis; (ii) extended period simulation; and (iii) hydraulic transient analysis.
(B) Participation in field testing work including (but not limited to): (i) hydrant flow and C-Factor testing; (ii) pressure and flow monitoring of water pumping, transmission and distribution systems; and (iii) pump performance and efficiency testing. This activity will also include becoming familiar with and applying various field measurement technilogies.
(C) Data collection, synthesis and analysis to support modelling work.
(D) Preparation of reports and technical memoranda.
Applicants are expected to have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in small teams as well as independently. As well, applicants should be fully proficient in the use of MS Office as well as some common Urban Water modelling platforms (e.g., InfoWater, WaterGEMs, HAMMER, InfoWorks, etc.) and should have a demonstrated background in Urban Water Systems engineering.

- The position offered is for full-time, permanent status, subject to a probation period.
- Compensation consists of base pay plus a performance-based discretionary bonus.
- Base compensation to be commensurate with skill and experience.
- Applicants are expected to have a valid drivers’ licence and a personal vehicle.
- The position generally requires in-office attendance and may require occasional travel.
