Duties

Plans, organizes, schedules, provides coaching/mentoring, and manages performance of team members. Delivers Visitor Services operations to provide park visitors with opportunities to discover, appreciate, learn about and enjoy the place and its natural and/or cultural resources, and understand their significance to Canada.

Work environment

Visitor Experience Operations in the Lake Louise, Yoho and Kootenay Field Unit operates in Yoho and Kootenay National Parks, Lake Louise area, Icefields Parkway, and portions of Banff National Park. Our services for visitors include: front country campgrounds, entry and mobile gates, information centers and facility cleaning. As a Team Leader you could lead one of our ten visitor experience operations units, supervising up to 20 team members.

The results of this process are intended to create a qualified list to staff similar positions, temporary or permanent, that may arise at the Lake Louise, Yoho & Kootenay Field Unit, with full or part-time hours and various tenures, depending on the status of the selected candidate.

A minimum of 2 years post-secondary education or acceptable combination of education, training and experience relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience
  • Experience in planning and/or providing services to the public.
  • Experience in assessing and ensuring quality of services.
  • Experience in giving instructions and/or delivering training.

Operational Requirements
  • Be exposed to stress when responding to fluctuating, unpredictable visitor demands and requirements.
  • Supervise a team of up to 20 persons at various locations within a park.
  • Wear a Parks Canada uniform and personal protective equipment.
  • Work in variable weather conditions.
  • Work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays.

Conditions of employment

  • Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance.
  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license or equivalent.
