Warehouse Assistant
Habitat for Humanity Red Deer Region Society is seeking a full time Warehouse Assistant for our ReStore operation. The ReStore is a social enterprise, retail operation that accepts donations of household items and building materials for resale. All ReStore proceeds go to support Habitat Red Deer operations and our homeownership program. We are open to the public 6 days a week from Monday – Saturday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (closed Sundays & Holidays).
The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for receiving, tracking, and organizing donated merchandise within a warehouse setting. This is a front-line position that deals directly with both corporate and individual donors, requiring someone that is professional, courteous and reliable. The Warehouse Assistant is a physically demanding position, requiring stamina to lift and move heavy objects and to load/unload donations of furniture and building supplies daily. The Warehouse Assistant reports to the Warehouse Lead to ensure effective and productive operations in the warehouse and receiving areas.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receiving and organizing donated merchandise from ReStore donors
- Assisting the public with drop-off and unloading of donated items at the ReStore
- Completing proper and accurate documentation for all donations requiring tax receipting
- Sorting and preparing merchandise donations to be taken onto the sales floor
- Supports the Warehouse Lead with receiving of Gift in Kind (GIK) merchandise shipments and tracking/organizing of same
- Assisting with warehouse inventory management and store maintenance
- Assisting with store merchandising including cleaning, moving, and revising displays; presentation of stock, stocking of shelves, and floor configuration
- Operating a forklift as required
- Perform and document regular equipment and appliance inspections
- Provide customer service and other duties as needed in the store.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma with a strong aptitude for customer service
- Previous experience working in a warehouse setting
- Strong communication skills, with ability to engage customers & donors in a courteous and professional manner
- Must be reliable with a strong work ethic and have an ability to work a flexible work schedule including every other Saturday
- Must possess a valid class 5 Alberta driver’s licence with clean driving record
- Physically fit – able to lift and move large, heavy objects up to 50 lbs
- Strong organizational skills and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Forklift certification and experience an asset.
- Must be health & safety conscious and adhere to all safety procedures.
