The Opportunity:
We are currently looking for a full time Warehouse Operativebased in our Winnipeg, MB service centre. The Warehouse Operative is safety and quality focused role that will be responsible for shipping, receiving and order filling through the operation of cranes, forklifts and sideloaders as well as various packaging equipment.
Shift: Monday to Friday 11:00pm – 8:00pm
Location: 1424 Willson Place
Responsibilities:
- Packages orders by selecting the proper material and following packaging specifications.
- Verification of material type and characteristics using specifications and measuring devices.
- Loading and unloading of trucks with cranes and forklifts.
- Data entry in ERP system related to order filling and location updates.
- Material handling of packaged orders and received material to relocate to staging areas and inventory storage locations.
- Assists in assignments with respect to warehouse housekeeping, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Performs all work while adhering to health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Skills and qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- 1-3 years of experience in material handling is required, preferably in the metal processing and distribution industry.
- Sideloader and forklift experience preferred; overhead crane experience is an asset.
- Computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, and ERP system like SAP.
- Strong math and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate precision measuring skills and competent operation of machinery and material handling equipment.
- Keen attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Safety conscious and strong knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to the position, in compliance with the provincial regulations and the company’s policies
- Ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
