Overview of the Role
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor provides effective leadership, supervision, and direction of Warehouse Operations; ensures the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the warehousing functions, and ensures the accurate and timely picking, loading and delivery of customer orders.
How you will make contributions that matter:
  • Provides leadership, direction and guidance to warehouse personnel;
  • Supervision, motivation, and evaluation of Warehouse personnel;
  • Ensures Food Safe best practices are always implemented and adhered to;
  • Plans and implements the efficient and effective utilization of manpower, equipment and resources;
  • Plans and implements effective orientation and training for warehouse personnel;
  • Manage inventory accuracy through monitoring of daily warehouse activities, cycle counts, stock takes and audit of same to verify results;
  • Ensures that safe conditions exist at all times within the work environment; takes appropriate and effective measures to provide for the health and safety of employees in accordance with company policy and WCB;
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations, prepare necessary report and communicate to line Management, Health & Safety personnel and Health & Safety Committee member(s);
  • Ensure that all employees, including temporary workers and contractors, adhere to safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment;
  • Experience working within policies & procedures, and understanding of compliance, in relation to regulatory bodies’ legislation including BRC, HACCP and WCB;
  • Develops and fosters strong and effective functional and cross functional teams;
  • Ensures the efficient and effective operation of the Warehouse with a view to ensuring that each customer’s needs are met (both internal and external);
  • Establish, maintain and promote high standards of customer service;
  • Prepares and completes communication reports, measurement reports, schedules, forms and other documentation as required and in a timely fashion;
  • Assists with preparation of department budget, monitors and controls costs;
  • Ensures security of materials and products;
  • Stand in for other supervisors during Holidays / Sickness as required;
  • Undertakes other functions and duties as required;
  • Must be flexible to work irregular hours.
You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Maestro / SAP is an asset;
  • Post-Secondary education and/or strong working knowledge of operations management, business, transportation or warehousing preferred;
  • Direct Warehouse Supervisory and/or Lead experience an asset;
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Working knowledge of Excel;
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills and a strong team orientation;
  • High level of self-motivation and initiative.
