Wastewater Treatment Process Technician

About the role: Responsible for maintaining and operating all process control and other related equipment in the operations of the Municipality’s Wastewater Plants and related pumping stations in a safe manner, ensuring legislative compliance and public safety. Responsible for collecting samples in conjunction with the Sewer Use By-law. Must be available for call out and on-call work, as required.

Salary Range: $28.92 - $32.97 per hour based on 40 hours per week, plus standby pay. This is a permanent full-time unionized position.

Education & experience required:

· Minimum two years post-secondary education diploma in a field such as Laboratory Technician, Environmental Technician, and/or Biology, Science, Chemistry Program, or Environmental Engineering Technician, Water Resources. Laboratory experience an asset.

· Ability to obtain Operator in Training certificate within 6 months from date of hire.

· Ability to obtain Wastewater Treatment Level 1 certification within 1 year from date of hire.

· Possess a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License
