I.JOB TITLE: Supervisor Weld
Reports to: Production Manager
II.JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include but not limited to ensuring the safety of the employees on the shop floor, training of current and new employees on processes, welding and quality. Track and maintain efficiencies, set up jobs to keep the line running smooth, train employees to grow the company, present a professional image of Essex Weld Solutions.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Assign jobs to hourly work force in a prompt organized fashion
- Assure jobs are set up in a safe, efficient running manor.
- Assure all employees are provided with the necessary tools to accomplish their task on the job; follow daily priority sheets
- Continuous monitoring of all facets in the manufacturing process with emphasis on improving quality, efficiency and safety
- Ensure all problems are identified, logged and corrected prior to completing the run
- Ensure all facets of the process adhere to OHSA standards & Essex Weld Solutions safety standards and all rules and regulations are enforced, and corrected.
- Assure all employees are trained, and adhere to the H&S rules and regulations
- Attend safety & training seminars as requested
- Perform workplace inspections
- Adhere to Section 27 & 28 of OHSA
Section 27 – Duties of a Supervisor(1)A supervisor shall ensure that a worker,(a)works in the manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by this Act and the regulations; and(b)uses or wears the equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the worker’s employer requires to be used or worn.(2)Without limiting the duty imposed by subsection (1), a supervisor shall,(a)advise a worker of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the worker of which the supervisor is aware;(b)where so prescribed, provide a worker with written instructions as to the measures and procedures to be taken for protection of the worker; and(c)take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker.
- Provide hourly employees with all training necessary for them to perform their duties.
- Set goals and objectives with hourly employees and monitor them, providing feedback on a regular basis
- Corrective and/or disciplinary action is required
- Constantly reassess and review duties and responsibilities and make changes as required
- Complete required paperwork according to ISO 9001:2015 standard.
- Remain accessible to all hourly employees for assistance, guidance and support whenever needed.
- Participate in continuous improvements, 5S and 8 Waste initiatives, including and not limited to processes, production flow etc.
- Perform all other duties as required
- Mandatory cross training required, training will be provided.
III.QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Education
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, ABILITIES REQUIRED
- 5+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting
- 3+ years in weld
- Strong blueprint reading
SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Ability to supervise, lead, direct and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals
- Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be available for overtime as needed
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
