Those with a minimum of TWO YEARS experience working "on the floor" with clients, and current CRIM and Intervention checks will be given priority, however we welcome all applications.

KimbrAna House is currently looking for a Youth Worker/Support Worker staff for a combination of Daytime/Evening/possible Overnight shifts - 8-12hr shifts - Flexibility is an assist as there may be extra available hours on scheduled school holidays and during summer time.
Position Responsibilities:
As a Youth Worker/Support Worker staff, you will be responsible for:
- Supervision of youth within both a residential and community setting
- Assist youth with schooling (homework), recreation and structured programming as outlined by the focus plan team
- Transportation of youth using either KimbrAna House provided vehicles or personal vehicle to appointments, and recreational outings
- Medication Administration to all youth including documentation
- Professional report writing and documentation of behaviors; daily activities
- General Household cleaning and yard maintenance, as well as meal preparation
- Willingness to become involved with care and maintenance of animals onsite - we are located on a hobby farm and do have livestock to assist our clients with processing their emotions/thoughts, as well as in supporting them in developing a positive work ethic and employability skills.
- Engaging youth in a healthy lifestyle choices and planning both through physical recreation activities, as well as indoor activities such as board games, puzzles, etc.
- Providing direction and guidance through role-modeling, verbal redirection, physical redirection and use of consequences as needed
- Follow through of individual treatment plans designed in collaboration with the focus plan team with the use of applied behaviour analysis, youth centred practice, behaviour modification, solution focused counselling, and other such models that support change and growth
Qualifications:
A Diploma/Degree in Human Services (or equivalent) along with a minimum of two (2) years of practical experience working with high-risk youth/adults and/or youth is preferred. Experience with children and family programming, youth in care, residential care, and case management is a requirement of this position. Certification or previous training in Aboriginal Awareness, Abuse Awareness, Standard First Aid - Level C, Quality Improvement and Diversity, Medication Administration, Suicide Awareness, and Non-Violence/Crisis Intervention is a definite asset. Current valid Criminal and Intervention check.
The ideal candidate will have an organized and compassionate approach to the work, strong teamwork and communication skills, and a commitment to developing positive supporting relationships.
Other qualifications include:
· Proven ability to provide effective communication, collaboration, crisis intervention, and conflict management with clients
· Demonstrated assessment, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
· Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction principles and practices; circle of courage, trauma informed care, philosophy, strength based and resiliency focused assessments
· Demonstrated ability to act with professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy
· Proven case documentation and effective information reporting practices
· Intermediate competency with Microsoft Office and other Agency computer applications
· Knowledge of community resources is an asset
Requirements:
- Valid Class 5 license with $2 million liability insurance (and current drivers abstract)
- Clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sections Check (within last 6 months)
- Clear Child Intervention Check (within last 6 months)
- 2 years previous experience working within the Human Services field or willingness to obtain
- Post Secondary in a Human Services field preferred.
- 3 References from previous employers
You will be working with youth who may have FASD, ADHD, Conduct Disorder, Mental Health Concerns and Developmental Delays, personal trauma, and in correlation and collaboration with an off-site Therapist, Children Service Workers, Medical Professionals and the Focus Plan Team.
Starting wage is based on experience and position. Benefits available after 6 months (Medical and Dental).
