This exciting position starts as soon as we find the right person!
We believe early intervention is the key to preventing chronic adult homelessness and by providing youth with the necessary skills and mental health supports we can impact and change the trajectory. Youth become homeless due to trauma in some form and generally lack healthy individuals in their life - they need the opportunity to be successful and we believe this program can create those opportunities.
Our program will include:
- trauma informed approach
- Circle of Courage, Dr. Martin Brokenleg
- low barrier access
- wrap around specialized supports
- life skills and pursuing education
- mental health & addiction support / interventions
- create cultural connections and support for Indigenous Youth
- ensure safe housing and supports for LGBTQ+ youth
- prevention of youth becoming entrenched in homelessness
- prevention of recruitment into criminal activity or the sex trade
Through this project, not only will we build capacity with our homelessness sector, we will contribute to the prevention of and the elimination of youth homelessness.
