About CASA
CASA Mental Health is an established non-profit organization delivering holistic, culturally-safe wrap-around mental health services to Albertans and their families. CASA provides mental health service to the missing middle – mental health treatment for diagnosed children and youth, in between prevention and promotion in primary and community care, and acute treatment in hospital.

​CASA’s team of mental health professionals are trauma experts committed to delivering service in collaboration with community partners. This includes assessment and treatment for up to 4,000 children, youth and their families each year, from community outreach settings to intensive treatment programs.

About the Role
CASA currently has a unique opportunity for a Mental Health Therapist to grow their specialized skills in trauma treatment with children and teens. Join a fun-loving, energetic team!

​The Mental Health Therapist will treat children, teens and families touched by intergenerational and/or developmental trauma by providing individual or group therapy focused on trauma and attachment diagnoses. They will work and learn with a cohesive team of psychiatrists, nurses, clinical support workers, addictions counsellors and other therapists with diverse backgrounds in social work, occupational therapy and psychology to provide these services.

​Duties include:
  • Working with the CASA team and external supports to provide high-quality trauma-focussed mental health therapies to children, teens and families.
  • Building specialized parenting skills for caregivers caring for children with exceptional needs.
  • Formulating a diagnosis as appropriate, using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools.
  • Conducting case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with CASA therapists and psychiatrists, community services and other professionals involved with the child and family.
  • Coordinating consultation to others therapists or external stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Providing supervision or preceptorship for student placements.
  • Contributing to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.

Maximum salary: $53.90
Hours per shift: 7.25
Shifts per week: Five
Days off: Saturday/Sunday

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work or occupational therapy.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
  • Must be a member in good standing with their respective professional association/college.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice culturally-safe therapeutic interventions.
  • Knowledge and experience supporting the healing of children and youth who have experienced trauma.
  • Knowledge and experience in the following therapeutic modalities: EMDR, ART, sensory motor psychotherapy, somatic experiencing, SMART, DBT/ CBT and ARC.
  • Training and experience in play therapy and DBT is considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.
