Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for the operations of the Human Resources department within the organization. They communicate on behalf of the Management Team to internal stakeholders all Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations. The Human Resources Manager is required to serve as a link between management and employees by maintaining positive relationships.
Hours of work are 37.50 per week. The normal workday is 8 hours, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Working in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions. Some evening and weekend work may be required
· Provide advice, assistance and follow-up to all employees on HR related issues
· Identify HR issues and liaise with the management team providing advice and analysis
· Ensure the security of employee personnel files and documentation
· Oversee the administration of employee benefits including educating employees about benefits and maintaining a sustainable relationship with insurance providers
· Collaborate with management and leadership teams in recruitment and selection, promotions, transfers, contract negotiation, and performance evaluation of all employees
· Oversee compilation of HR metrics including analyzing, reporting and identifying trends and providing recommendations
· Advise managers on all organizational matters
· Oversee organization orientation/onboarding and assist with training within the organization for board recruits, staff, students and volunteers
· Collaborate with management in the development and revision of all organizational job descriptions in a consistent and current format
· Ensure effective exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations
· Assist with the investigation and reporting of accidents/incidents including attending all incident case reviews
· Oversee occupational health and safety initiatives including training
· Develop, provide recommendations, revise and maintain the Human Resources Policy and Procedures Manual
· Monitor employee sick time and overtime and provide analysis for performance appraisals
· Liase with management team, regarding leaves of absence to provide HR, legal perspectives
· Administer employee exits including resignations, leaves of absence and retirements
· Administer employee recognition and wellness programs
· Oversee employee evaluation system and provide input into compensation structure
· Build and sustain beneficial relationships with educational institutions
· Co-chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee and report to management team

What you will bring
Ø Minimum 5 years’ experience in Human Resources administration
Ø BA and Human Resources Management Certificate or equivalent
Ø CHRL designation
Ø Experience in a mental health, addiction or social service setting would be an asset
Ø Demonstrated working knowledge of multiple human resource areas preferred, including labour relations
Ø Sound knowledge of various regulatory authorities, i.e. Employment Standards, Ministry of Labour, and the Ontario Human Rights Code
Ø Maturity, and ability to work well under pressure
Ø Excellent organizational skills
Ø Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally
Ø Demonstrated effective communication skills, decision-making, problem identification and problem solving, project management and conflict resolution
Ø Strong interpersonal, leadership, and team-building skills
Ø Good computer skills
Ø A capacity to work collaboratively
Ø A valid Canadian driver's license and the use of a reliable personal vehicle
Ø Minimum $2,000,000 third party liability vehicle insurance
Ø A satisfactory police record check including vulnerable sector screening
